Summary

What you get, and why it does not sound obviously AI

The usual giveaway in a voice conversion is the consonants. RVC reproduces sung vowels well and smears the sharp sounds around them — the s, t and k, and the breaths between phrases. NiceVois splices those back in from the original performance, matched in level and tone to the converted voice. That single step is the difference between a cover that sounds like a person and one that sounds like software.

Your model is yours. It trains from your own clean recordings, stays private to your account, and downloads as a portable .pth and .index pair you can take anywhere. Training once is the point: the model is reusable for every song you make from then on.

First, decide which job you actually need

Suno Voices can generate new songs with a verified voice profile. That is useful when you want Suno to create a new performance. Changing only the singer in a finished song is different: you are trying to preserve the existing timing, arrangement, and backing track while replacing the performed lead vocal.

Suno's own help center explains that an exported song contains the music and words in one file, so changing the voice in that rendered version requires stem extraction or another editing workflow. That separation step is the reason a normal voice changer cannot safely treat the full mix as one vocal.

Step 1: Export the best version of the song

Download the highest-quality audio file you can. Avoid repeatedly converting it between compressed formats before separation. Every watery edge or smeared cymbal created at this stage can become more obvious after the vocal is removed and rebuilt.

Step 2: Prepare the voice you are allowed to use

Use a clean clip of your own voice, or a speaker who knowingly gave permission for a reusable voice model. Dry, single-speaker audio is best. Background music, overlapping singers, strong room reverb, and heavy effects all make it harder for the model to learn the voice itself.

If you already have a private RVC .pth and matching .index, keep them together. If you do not, train the voice on NiceVois or follow the same RVC training process yourself.

Step 3: Train or load the RVC model

The model is the reusable voice. Training prepares the voice audio, extracts pitch and voice features, learns the target voice, and packages the result as a .pth plus its retrieval .index. NiceVois keeps those files portable, so this cover workflow does not lock the model to one website.

Step 4: Separate the song into useful parts

At minimum, split the record into a vocal stem and an instrumental. A better cover keeps the lead vocal separate from harmonies and backing vocals. The lead is the part that changes voice. The instrumental and backing vocals should retain the record's stereo width and timing.

Separation is not lossless. Listen for instrumental bleed in the vocal stem, missing transients, watery high frequencies, or harmonies that were accidentally grouped with the lead. Those problems carry into the conversion if they are not caught here.

Step 5: Convert the lead vocal and restore the human details

Run only the isolated lead through the RVC model. Choose the transpose in semitones so the source performance sits in the target voice's natural range. Zero preserves the source pitch; twelve semitones moves one octave.

Ordinary RVC often sounds most artificial on unpitched sounds such as s, f, sh, ch, and t, plus the breaths between lines. The NiceVois Clean Consonants stage detects those moments and restores them from the source vocal, so the vocal changes identity without turning every consonant into a metallic buzz.

Step 6: Rebuild the record and export

Place the converted lead back over the instrumental and backing vocals. Preserve the backing track's stereo image, match the original lead-to-instrumental balance, and check the total loudness against the source record. Then listen through the full song for timing drift, clipping, missing phrases, separation residue, and sudden changes in voice identity.

The finished deliverable is the mixed cover. It is also useful to keep the cleaned isolated vocal so you can make your own mix in a DAW. NiceVois returns both and includes a vocal-level control before download.

Common questions

Can I change only the singer in a finished Suno song?

Yes. The finished song has to be separated first, because the export contains the music and the vocal in one file. NiceVois does that for you: it splits the song, converts the isolated lead through your voice, restores the consonants and breaths, and mixes it back over the original instrumental and backing vocals.

Does Suno already let me use my own voice?

Suno has a Voices feature for generating songs with a verified voice profile. Replacing only the singer in an already rendered song is a different production task because the exported song contains music and vocals in one mixed file.

Can NiceVois make the whole cover for me now?

Can I publish the finished cover?
